Labor Day

Labor Day is brightly colored with beach towels, sand chairs and umbrellas.  Children build sandcastles while mothers soak in the sun. Teens skimboard, fly kites, flirt and strut. Dogs romp the day away and as the sun sets, fathers lay elaborate fires.  As the sun kisses the ocean there is a pause.  Wine glasses are raised and as sunfire goes out, bonfires are lit to drive back the night, to warm the celebration and to incinerate marshmallows.

  2. Thank you Becky. It sounds very middle class America even when I leave the grandparents out. I didn't mention the fraternity/sorority bonfire. It was BIG enough to impress Jordan....who is ready to join.
